Family...

I could not let today pass with out posting about this past weekend. Sarah's wedding is less than 2 weeks away and the clock is loudly ticking down....stress is running high and the value of a minute is priceless at this point. Since this past weekend was a long, holiday weekend, there was a long "to do" list that had to be completed. The #1 priority was to get the yard ready to landscape. So, on Saturday morning at 7:30, Dad and I are trying read and mark off the flowerbeds as accurately as we could according to the blueprints. It was just the 2 of us and we were overwhelmed. During this time, the crew of friends hanging sheet rock in the new addition showed up and were ready to get going....Dad needed to help them for a little while, so he left me out in the yard trying to do the best I could with NO landscaping skills to speak of. About 45 minutes after Dad left, he came running out in the yard with a HUGE grin on his face. I was really hoping the news was good, but I had no idea.....Brother Broussard (or George as I later found out was his real name) was on his way up to Meadville from Lafayette. A little bird had told him that Dad could use his help by way of his tractor and he came immediately. He left Lafayette at 9:00 a.m. that morning and was at our house in Meadville by 11:30! And to make things better, he brought along is wonderful wife Deborah, who happens to be a flower bed EXPERT! On that day, there was no greater gift. We would still be shoveling dirt in Meadville trying to make flower beds had they not showed up. God not only showed up, but showed out through our friends that day!!

Of course there are many others who have stepped in to help out Mom and Dad over the last few weeks. I have pictures of some, but not others. Our neighbors and friends compare to no other. They are amazing friends who we all are indebted to forever. Some have generously used their expert skills so freely and others have learned new skills just by "being there to help". THANK YOU!

I will not show you final results pictures on this blog today. You will either have to come to Sarah's reception on June 7 and see it for yourself or wait until after the wedding for me to blog about it. But what I will show you are a few "action" shots along the way. These are Debbie's pictures below. I forgot my camera in Meadville and do not have an action shot of her or anyone else posted, but I will definitely get a picture of everyone blogged when I get back down there next week.

L-R: Trae James, Grady Fleming, Hilton Zumbro, and Brother Broussard
Dad, Trae, Grady, and Hilton
(I promise that they did not just stand around holding shovels and rakes - they proved that they know how to use them!)

This topsoil was certainly used all up by the end of the day...it was only half used when this was taken.

The light at the end of the tunnel was not a freight train, but rather coming from a Kubota tractor!

Okay, so I lied, here is one semi-final picture of the front flowerbed.

I truly admire you all for the hard work each of you have done and continue to do. It truly is a blessing to live in a small town where your friends are real friends. Some folks think living in the Bible belt would be horrible, but I would rather live where the BIBLE is still the true word where Friends are made from! I admire YOU for taking the time to drive from so far away to work like you did. Knowing you were leaving Mon. after getting up and working more, Harold and I prayed you wouldn't be too tired to drive safely. You are a blessing to your family and friends....love ya!!

I might have to do a "drive by" to see what is going on over there. You know I love it when other people have to work!! I know it's looking beautiful. Can't wait for Saturday!!
